Workforce development and cyber security highlighted at conference

WHEELING — Among the various topics detailed during the recent conference of the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association were that of technology and training of future workers.

Speaking as part of a panel, Steptoe & Johnson lawyer Laura Goldfarb said drones are increasingly used by the industry for observation of the pipelines.

Advantages of this, she said, include increased energy efficiency in operations and lower emissions, along with a reduction in the number of workers exposed to hazardous materials.
